Hi, I'm Matt Jalon

I spent over 20 years teaching in preschool classrooms before I ever designed a coloring page. That classroom time is the actual foundation of every Matt Jalon book, not just what looks cute on a cover, but what genuinely holds a 3, 4, or 5-year-old's attention long enough to finish a page and feel proud of it.

I've watched thousands of small hands hold a crayon for the first time. I know which line weights are too thin, which subjects are too busy, and which layouts turn into frustration instead of fun. Every decision in these books, from page count and line thickness to single-sided printing and subject choice, comes from that hands-on classroom experience.

My goal is simple: give parents a screen-free activity their kids actually ask for again, built on real child-development fundamentals instead of guesswork.
